Largo Police Arrest Teacher From Clearwater School on Child Pornography Charges

According to Lieutenant Joe Coyle of the Largo Police Department, Robert Plotkin was arrested again on Friday, April 7, 2016. He is facing one additional count of possession of child pornography after multiple images of child pornography were found on a school laptop.
After Plotkin was arrested on March 28, 2017, two school laptops were seized by detectives for a forensic examination. The school board provided the laptops and assigned them to Plotkin for school functions such as lesson planning according to the press release.
The forensic analysis revealed multiple images of child pornography on one of the school’s laptops. There is no evidence at this time that Plotkin was viewing these images during school hours.
He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail Friday morning and held on $100,000 bail.

Largo Police arrested 57 year-old Robert James Plotkin, for ten counts of possession of child pornography and one count of tampering with physical evidence.
Plotkin is a six grade math and social science teacher at Clearwater Intermediate school located at 1220 Palmetto St. Clearwater Fl, for the past five years.
On March 15, 2017, Largo Police responded to 225 Country Club Dr. #E344, reference to suspicious activity. The complainant, is a roommate with Plotkin and called reference finding child pornography on Plotkin’s personal computer.
After an argument over a vehicle the roommate called the Largo Police Department to report the child pornography and advised Plotkin of this. While Largo Police were in route to this call, Plotkin threw his laptop into a lake behind the apartment complex.
Once on scene Plotkin advised the Largo Officers to the fact that the computer was in the lake. Plotkin retrieved the laptop for the officers on his own accord.
The computer was seized as evidence and Plotkin was not arrested at this point. Cyber Crime Investigator Wagoner was able to retrieve images from the hard drive. The images that were recovered were that of child pornography ages ranging from three to seventeen.
On March 28, 2017, investigators from the Largo Police Department responded to Clearwater Intermediate School and interviewed Plotkin. Plotkin was brought to the Largo Police Department and arrested. At this time the investigation is still ongoing.
