Man arrested for overnight shooting death in St. Petersburg

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department arrested 24 year-old John F. Grant after a shooting at the Food Max store, located at 1400 18th Ave. S.

The fatal shooting occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020.

The victim, identified as 26 year-old Deauntazies L. Ramsey, and Grant were known to each other.

During an argument Grant shot Ramsey in the Food Max parking lot.

Ramsey was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he was pronounced dead.

John F. Grant is facing one charge of Murder in the 2nd Degree. 

The investigation into the shooting is still active. If anyone has any information, they are encouraged to call detectives at 727-893-7780 or anonymous tips can be sent by texting the letters SPPD and the tips to TIP-411.

    • What is wrong with you man? Are you oblivious to the systematic racism that prevails in our nation? Where young black men are killed for the crime of being black? Where mothers of black sons have “to have the talk” warning them how to act if stopped by the police. Warning them how to “not get killed”. BLM is an organization that stands to promote racial justice. They bring to the forefront and help provide a solution to the killing of hundreds of Americans. Just because of the color of their skin. Killed by the very police who pledge to serve and protect our communities.

  2. andrea you a dumb bitch blacks kill each other way more times that at the hands of the police and just so you know more white people are killed by police than any other race. mother should have a talk with there children how to act properly in public and to have all the proper paper work on the vehicle they are operating and to stay seated and obey the officer. also why did the mothers only talk to the boys and not the girls, so you are trying to say that black boys are the thugs in that race, due to not know how behave in pubic.
