Man facing attempted second degree murder charges after stabbing woman in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Police are currently investigating a stabbing that occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019.

Officers were called to 4061 Porpoise Dr. S.E. where they found a woman who was been stabbed several times.

She was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries.

Police arrived, located, and arrested 64 year-old Lonnie Lavine.

He was arrested for attempted murder in the 2nd degree and was treated at St. Anthony’s hospital for minor injuries to his hand, and booked into the Pinellas Jail shortly before midnight.

His booking photo is not available at the time.

Lavine lived in an unattached shed behind the victim’s home on Porpoise Dr.

Police say the two were not in a relationship and preliminary information indicates that the two argued before the stabbing.

The investigation continues.
