Man Killed in Moped Crash on MLK Jr. Street in St. Petersburg
Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department are on the scene of a fatal crash involving a car and a moped on MLK Jr. Street N just North of 94th Avenue.
The crash occurred at occurred at 4:35 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018.
The moped driver, 59 year-old John Zivanov died at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen Sedan, 46 year-old Thomas Kontos Craddock is cooperating with investigators.
Investigators say that based on preliminary information, Zivanov’s moped from behind while stopped in the far left lane of northbound MLK Jr. St N at the intersection of Executive Center Dr.
Zivanov died at the scene.
Traffic was impacted for several hours for the investigation.
