Man Killed in Single Vehicle Crash in Pinellas Park

Pinellas Park Police and Fire Rescue responded to a single vehicle crash at approximately 7:25 AM on Sunday, September 17, 2017.

Upon arrival of the scene, a 2005 BMW 5 series with heavy overall damage was located next to a tree just to the northeast of 75th Street.

Traffic Homicide Investigators responded to scene at which time it was learned that prior to the crash, the vehicle was traveling northbound on Belcher Rd and left the roadway where 75th Street intersects with Belcher Road.

After leaving the roadway the vehicle then struck a large tree killing the only vehicle occupant and driver 20 year-old Antonio Lucia of Seminole.

Firefighters returned to the scene about 2-1/2 hours after to remove the Lucia from the BMW.

Investigators are looking for any witnesses to the crash and are asking for the public’s assistance, by asking anyone who saw the crash or the vehicle driving prior to the crash, to contact investigators at 727-369-7864.  The cause of the crash remains unknown at this time, and investigators will be working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine if the driver suffered any type of medical issue or was under the influence of any alcohol or
narcotics at the time of the crash.
