Man on Motor Scooter Dies Following St. Petersburg Crash
St. Petersburg Police is investigating a collision between a car and a motor scooter. It occurred shortly after 5pm on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 36th Avenue N and 16th Street N.
Investigators say that a black 2016 Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 61 year-old male was traveling northbound on 16th Street North.
A black 2017 Zhongneng Motor Scooter, operated by 51 year-old Michael Cardinal, was westbound on 36th Avenue North, stopped at a stop sign then moved forward and failed to yield to the Elantra
Cardinal was not wearing a helmet and suffered life threatening injuries. He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he died from his injuries early Tuesday morning at 12:44am.
The investigation into the crash continues.
