At around 9:47 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, deputies responded to the Oneco Rose Bar at 103 Cortez Road, where an unknown male opened fire inside the bar, injuring two customers.
Deputies found one victim at the bar with a bullet wound but learned that the shooter, who was later identified as Devin Waiters, had fled the scene. That victim was transported to a local hospital, and another victim who left the bar before deputies arrived was located at the same hospital. Both shooting victims had non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives collected evidence and learned a fight broke out between Waiters and a customer before Waiters fired multiple gunshots in the direction of that customer. During the shooting, an unrelated bar patron was struck twice.
Detectives arrested Waiters on outstanding warrants that night and, following further investigation, developed probable cause to charge him with Attempted Murder. Additional charges are expected.
