Officers from the Largo Police Department were dispatched to a crash at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at East Bay Dr and Newport Drive.
According to officers, a Honda motorcycle was traveling eastbound East Bay Drive when a silver Ford Fusion made a left hand turn from westbound East Bay Drive towards Newport Drive in front of the motorcycle.Â
The motorcycle braked heavily in order to avoid the crash but was unable to stop in time.Â
The Fusion collided with the motorcycle causing significant trauma to the unhelmeted motorcyclist, who was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with critical injuries.
Firefighters needed to cut part of the vehicle away in order to free the occupant(s).
Police say, alcohol does not appear to be a factor and the investigation is ongoing.
