Motorcyclist critically injured in St. Petersburg crash with unlicensed driver

St. Petersburg Police are currently investigating a crash that critically injured a motorcyclist.

The crash occurred at 20th Avenue South & 49th Street South shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2020.

According to investigators, 38 year-old Lashawna Rene Young of St Petersburg was southbound in the median lane of 49th Street, attempting to turn left onto 20th Avenue South in Mazda.

Young, who does not have a driver’s license, turned left in front of a 1981 Harley motorcycle that was northbound on 49th Street South.

The motorcycle driver, a 56 year old man, struck the right front of the Mazda.The Mazda then hit the front of a Mitsubishi that was waiting at a stop signal at 20th Street.

The unhelmeted motorcycle driver was ejected from the motorcycle and transported to Bayfront Health St Petersburg in life threatening condition.

No other injuries were reported.
