Motorcyclist killed following collision with UPS truck

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are investigating a crash involving a motorcyclist.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019 west of 58th Street on 54th Avenue.

Damaged motorcycle on 54th Avenue following crash

The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Northside Hospital where she died.

All westbound lanes of 54th Avenue will remain closed during the investigation. 

Traffic homicide investigators are on-scene.

  1. Driving home from work yesterday I reached 58th St & 54th Ave about 5:10pm and KC police / FHP still had the road closed at 58th St nearly all the way to 66th St from what I could see. We were directed around at the 58th St light (if traveling west) by Winn Dixie…almost 4 hours after the accident. But I didn’t know what the cause was until this morning when I caught the news.

    I ride a motorcycle as well and the pictures here speak volumes about how horrific the collision was.
