Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a crash that killed 38 year-old Josue Vega-Rodriguez of Dunedin.
According to investigators, Vega-Rodriguez was travelling westbound on Main Street on his 2014 Harley Davidson XL1200 motorcycle at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020.
Investigators say 79-year-old Larry Smith of Clearwater was travelling eastbound on Main Street in a 2014 Ram 2500 and made a left turn to enter a parking lot. Smith turned into Vega-Rodriguez’s path where the two collided.
Vega-Rodriguez sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Northside Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Smith was not injured.
Investigators say speed or impairment do not appear to be factors in this case.
The investigation continues.
