Motorcyclist Killed in Westchase Crash Sunday Morning

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a crash that killed a motorcyclist. The crash occurred in the intersection of Race Track Rd & Countryway Blvd, at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2019.

Investigators say that the driver of a silver Nissan  Rogue was stopped southbound on Race Track Road at the intersection of Countryway Boulevard.

A motorcyclist was stopped directly behind the Rogue on a 2007 Yamaha FJR motorcycle.

The driver of a white Chrysler Town and County van was approaching the stopped motorcycle and Rogue. The driver of the van failed to stop for the vehicles, causing his van to strike the motorcycle and the Rogue.

The motorcyclist, a 66-year-old white male, was thrown from his motorcycle and landed in the middle of the intersection.

The motorcycle and the Rogue were pushed into the intersection where they came to a rest. The motorcyclist was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Main hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash. Next of kin has been notified.

No further details are available at this time.
