A 71 year-old Tampa man was traveling southbound on US-301 in a 1999 Ford F-150.
The driver of the Ford turned left to Ambleside Drive and into the path of Broughton’s motorcycle.
Broughton, who was wearing a helmet, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.
The driver of truck was treated on-scene for minor injuries.
No charges are pending according to the initial crash report released by FHP.
Possibly because it was an “ACCIDENT”! Accidents are not done on purpose. I’m sure the truck driver did intentionally turn in front of this motorcycle! If ever person cited in an accident with death, our jails and courts would seriously be over full! People act like this man said to himself, I am going to take a drive and see what accident I can create and kill another driver. C’mon he has to wake up every day with knowing he took a life! That’s enough punishment!
Jennifer, I am so sorry to hear of the accident which took ur son’s life. No mother should have to bury their children. My condolences to u and ur family.
My condolences to u and the family…i lost my husband feb 8 2017 …..he loved to ride his mororcycle and he was a motorcycle mechanic for the ride factory…my prayers to u and the family
My condolences to the family. But I don’t understand people making comments about the driver of the truck like it was his fault. He was only trying to make a left hand turn when the man or boy I would say was weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed and hit the man in the truck. It is a very sad thing that happen but how can you lay blame on the man in the truck
