Motorcyclist Seriously Injured Thursday Night on Hillsborough Avenue

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a crash that left a Tampa man with serious injuries.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Hillsborough Ave and Halifax Drive at about 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

27 year-old Frank Leto, III of Tampa was the driver of a 2001 Nissan Xterra.  He was stopped facing west in the inside left turn lane on Hillsborough Avenue at the intersection of Halifax Drive.

29 year-old John Reppert of Tampa was traveling east in the center lane on Hillsborough Avenue at the intersection of Halifax Drive operating a 2007 Honda CBR600.

According to FHP investigators, Leto turned left into the path of Reppert who then collided with the side of the Nissan.

Reppert, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle.  He was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious injuries

Leto was cited for the improper turn according to FHP.

Neither Leto nor his two passenger sustained any significant injuries.
