The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate a crash that seriously injured 50 year-old Maurice Altamuro of St. Petersburg.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:35 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2019.

According to troopers, Altamuro, the driver of a 1997 Jaguar was traveling northbound on Belcher Road, when for an unknown reason, left the roadway. The vehicle entered the east shoulder at Curlew Road, collided with a tree, and overturned.
Troopers say that the driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and believe that alcohol was involved in the crash.

Altamuro was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
FHP states that charges are pending.
