The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:08 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2020.
According to FHP, a 58 year-old male from Pinellas Park was traveling northbound on 66th Street approaching Ulmerton Road in a pickup truck.
A 32 year-old Bradenton man was operating a pickup truck and stopped in the southbound left turn lane of 66th Street at Ulmerton Road.
Troopers say the pickup truck operated by the 32 year-old man from Bradenton turned left under a green turn signal and entered the intersection and collided nearly head-on with the other pickup truck.
The 58 year-old unrestrained driver was seriously injured and transported to an unknown hospital with serious injuries.
Neither the 32 year-old driver nor his two other passengers were reportedly injured.
Troopers are asking anyone with information or may have witnessed this crash to contact them at 813-558-1800.
It appears that FHP is no longer including the following information in their formatted modified press releases:
Names of any parties involved in the crash
No details of any vehicles involved (ie, make model, year)
No information on hospitalization or transport facility
No indication of drugs or alcohol usage
No information on pending charges
Some of these changes they claim are a results of Amendment 6 (Marcy’s Law) that was approved by Florida voters in 2019. FHP states that they continue to review current policy and implement needed changes. They will no longer release the names of victims and other personally, identifiable information in press releases.
