At approximately 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, an officer from the Largo Police Department was involved in an altercation with a subject at 2045 East Bay Drive. That officer requested assistance over the radio, and multiple officers headed toward the scene.
While officers were responding to the call for assistance, a crash involving a Largo Police Officer occurred in the middle of the intersection of East Bay Drive and Keene Road. It is reported the officer entered the intersection with his emergency lights activated.
The officers involved in the original altercation and the vehicle crash were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and remained stable. One suspect was apprehended and taken into custody and is facing multiple charges.
The crash closed all westbound and southbound lanes at the intersection of Keene Road and East Bay Drive.
