A 14-year-old boy has died following a shooting on Thursday evening in south St. Petersburg, and one teen suspect has been arrested on felony murder charges.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, officers responded just after 6:30 p.m. to the 4200 block of 15th Avenue South following reports of a shooting.
Investigators say 14-year-old Gaige Santos-Brown was approached by three teens when shots were fired, critically injuring him. Santos-Brown was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg, where he later died from his injuries.
Detectives identified 16-year-old Kenneth Washington as one of the suspects involved in the shooting. He was arrested overnight and charged with felony murder and violation of supervised release.
Police said detectives are continuing to work to identify the two additional suspects involved in the case.
The investigation remains ongoing.
