Pasco Elementary School Principal Arrested for Grand Theft
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputies have arrested the principal of Connerton
Elementary School, 50 year-old Edward John Abernathy for grand theft.
Preliminary information indicates that on Oct. 23, a mentally handicapped 9 year-old student at the school brought to school some of his parents’ money.
When teachers realized the issue, they took the money and counted it, placing it in the principal’s office.
When the mother of the child went to school to get the money, the principal gave her only $1,200 not the $2,100 her child had brought to school.
Subsequent investigation by deputies determined the principal kept the $900 difference.
Edward John Abernathy was booked on one charge of grand theft.
The elementary school is located at 9300 Flourish Drive in Land O’Lakes, Florida.
