Pasco Sheriff’s deputies are investigating what appears to be a carjacking with a fatality in Bayonet Point.

Deputies received the call at approximately 5:12 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019

Preliminary information indicates that the vehicle owner, 74 year-old Hermel Leveque of Port Richey, was setting up a table at the St. Marks Church flea market, 7922 State Road 52, early this morning.

His vehicle had a utility trailer attached and he was unloading items for the flea market to sell.

The vehicle left the parking lot with the owner still inside and began heading east on SR 52. Contents from the vehicle were strewn about from the parking lot to the point where the truck and trailer rolled over by Nature Trail on SR-52.

The 2018 Ford Explorer collided with a palm tree and overturned.

It is unknown at this time why the crash occurred and investigators have not yet released the identify of the driver.

The driver, a 34 year-old Weeki Wachee resident, is in critical condition at a local hospital.

Leveque died at the scene.
