Traffic Homicide Investigators from the Largo Police Department are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian and two dog.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:12PM on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

According to Largo Police Department investigators, a 59 year-old man was driving a 2011 Subaru northbound in the median lane of 66th St. N., when it struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, 56 year-old Thomas Lee Mason was determined to be walking his roommate’s dogs when he attempted to cross 66th Street outside of a marked crosswalk area and was struck.

The pedestrian and the dogs were pronounced deceased on scene. Alcohol appears to have been a factor on the pedestrian side. This investigation is on going, but no criminal charges are expected against the driver.

Tampa Bay Veterinary Clinic on Belcher Road was gracious enough to take the dogs (10 & 15 years old) and will work with the dogs’ owner to follow through with her wishes.

The investigation closed all northbound lanes of 66th Street at 126th Ave during the investigation.
