Police Looking for SUV After Pedestrian Killed in Hit and Run Crash in St. Petersburg

At approximately 9:05pm on Monday, December 24, a pedestrian, 47 year-old Jeffrey Wade Wilson was struck and killed after being struck by a vehicle in St. Petersburg.

According to police, Wilson was crossing 4th Street North at 23rd Avenue North. Wilson was struck and killed by a red Jeep SUV traveling northbound in the curb lane.

As Wilson was in the roadway, he was struck a second time by a 2014 Fiat 500L.

Both vehicles pulled into the Baycare Urgent Care parking lot (2331 4th Street North), then the Jeep SUV the driver sped away.

Wilson died at the scene. The investigation is ongoing at this time

The St. Petersburg Police Department is looking for a small to midsized Jeep SUV; possibly red or maroon in color. The vehicle should have damage to the front end. Anyone who may have seen the crash, or who may have information about the vehicle or the crash is asked to call 727-893-7780, or text SPPD + your tip to TIP411.

The driver of the Fiat stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.

The northbound lanes of 4th Street were closed between 22nd Ave N and 25th Ave N. for the investigation.
