A pedestrian was killed in a crash in the northbound lanes of East Lake Road approaching Woodlands Boulevard.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:09 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2019.
According to investigators, from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), 34 year-old Jeffrey Korth of Safety Harbor was walking westbound across Woodlands Boulevard.
A 24 year-old Trinity resident was operating a 2016 Hyundai Sonata northbound and entered the intersection under a green traffic signal. Korth entered the intersection and into the path of the Sonata and was struck in the inside travel lane.
Korth was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa where he died from his injuries.
Neither the driver nor his passenger were injured in the crash.
FHP says no charges are expected related to the crash.
