Pinellas County Deputies from the Major Accident Investigation Team Investigate A Two Vehicle Fatal Crash In Safety Harbor.

The crash occurred at about 6:39 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 2100 Philippe Parkway.

According to investigators, witnesses observed a 2008 Kia Spectra, driven by 62 year-old Darryl Sailor of Safety Harbor, weaving on the roadway while traveling southbound on Philippe Parkway, just north of Avon Drive in Safety Harbor.

Investigators say the Kia made a sudden, sharp left turn into the northbound lane of Philippe Parkway and was struck on the passenger side by a 2001 Toyota Avalon, driven by a 19-year-old Clearwater man, who was traveling northbound on Philippe Parkway.

The impact forced both vehicles off the road, where the Kia struck a utility
pole.

Sailor sustained life threatening injuries and was flown to a trauma center were he was pronounced deceased.

The 19 year-old was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Speed and impairment do not appear to be a factors in the crash, police say.

The investigation continues.
