PINELLAS COUNTY – Deputies assigned to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating a vehicle versus deputy crash that occurred Thursday night in Seminole.
According to investigators, deputies were on scene for an unrelated animal call for service at approximately 8:15 p.m. on April 2, 2026, in the 10700 block of 104th Street.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., 37-year-old Shaira Wester was traveling northbound on 104th Street in a 2010 Ford Fusion approaching 106th Terrace. Wester reported that a vehicle traveling southbound had its high beams activated, which impaired her visibility.
At the same time, 37-year-old Deputy Jason Anderson was positioned at the edge of the roadway as part of the ongoing investigation. As Wester continued northbound, the front passenger-side fender of her vehicle struck Deputy Anderson, causing him to be thrown to the ground.

Deputy Anderson was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg, where he remains in stable condition. Authorities report he sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, including two skull fractures, a fractured wrist, and facial lacerations.
Wester was not injured in the crash. She remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
According to deputies, impairment and speed do not appear to be contributing factors, and no charges are being filed at this time.
The crash remains under active investigation by the MAIT.
