Pinellas Park Police Arrest Career Criminal Following Home Invasion Robbery

A career criminal, 44 year-old Joshua Bartle, was arrested by Pinellas Park Police after a home invasion robbery.

The home invasion robbery occurred in the 9300 block of Mainlands Blvd on Sunday, June 17, 2018.

Police say that Bartle entered an occupied residence in what investigators believed was a planned burglary.

Bartle reportedly entered the residence at approximately 5:50 a.m. by cutting away a screen and unlocking a door. Once inside he confronted two of the homes occupants while they were in bed. The occupants were a 68 year-old male and 74 year-old female. He pointed a firearm at the victims and told them that if they gave him money they would not be harmed.

Once he took money from both victims he forced the female victim to give him the keys to her 2016 Red Chevrolet Sonic. He could not use an attached key fob and ordered the female victim at gunpoint to unlock and start the vehicle. Bartle then entered the vehicle and left the scene.

Neither victim was injured during the
robbery.

Bartle was located a short while later at the Bayside Inn (9359 US Highway 19 N.) seated inside of the stolen vehicle.

Bartle fled on foot and was apprehended following a short foot chase. The loaded firearm and money were recovered at the scene.

Joshua Bartle was positively identified by both victims as the perpetrator.

Bartle is a career criminal with prior convictions for Burglary, Dealing in Stolen Property, Armed Robbery, Armed Carjacking, Robbery with a Firearm, and Attempted Armed Robbery. Bartle was released from prison in 2017 following a 10-year prison sentence for Burglary and trafficking in stolen property.

Bartle remains in the Pinellas County jail with a bond of $315,150 on the following charges:

  • Resisting an officer without violence
  • Felon in possession of a firearm
  • Armed Burglary
  • Carjacking (with a firearm)
