Wilton Costa, age 62 of Pinellas Park, was driving a 1995 Ford F350 northbound on 49th Street and made a left turn at 94th Avenue violating the right of way of a southbound 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The motorcycle was being operated by 63 year-old Kenneth Rickert of Levittown, PA.
Rickert’s motorcycle slid through the intersection and crashed into a 2013 Chevy Silverado being driven by 39 year-old James Patterson of Pinellas Park.
Patterson was stopped waiting to make a right turn from 94th Avenue to southbound 49th Street at the time of the crash.
Rickert was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. Rickert was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Costa and Patterson were not injured. Speed is not believed to be a factor. The investigation is still active and charges are possible.
