PINELLAS PARK — A suspect is in custody after a shooting aboard a PSTA bus in Pinellas Park late Sunday morning that left one person hospitalized.
According to the Pinellas Park Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:45 a.m. to the area of U.S. Highway 19 North and 49th Street North following reports of a person who had been shot on a PSTA bus.
Investigators said the suspect fled the bus after the shooting but was quickly located by responding officers near Freedom Lake Park, located at 9990 49th Street North. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the investigation remains active but emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public related to the incident.
