At approximately 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, several Pinellas Park Fire
units and Pinellas Park Police Patrol units responded to a fire at the City Of
Pinellas Park’s Youth Park (soccer complex).  The facility is located at 3750 66th Avenue in Pinellas Park.

According to officers, there was an active fire inside the eastern most women’s restroom pavilion.  The fire was extinguished by firefighters but not before it caused an estimated $19,000 worth of damage.

Officers on-scene identified and located still at the scene a suspect by the
name of Rio Evey.  With the assistance of detectives, Evey was interviewed and
admitted to setting the fire using a lighter to ignite toilet paper, and a
McDonald’s fry carton in two separate but adjacent bathroom stalls inside the
women’s restroom portion of the pavilion.

Evey was arrested and charged with one count of arson in the second degree.  Her bond is currently set at $10,000.
