Pinellas Park woman charged with attempted murder after stabbing roommate during argument over $60 of stimulus money

Pinellas Park Police make an arrest following a stabbing incident that occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. It occurred at 8043 55th Street N. in Pinellas Park, Florida.

Pinellas Park Police responded to the home regarding a battery investigation. Upon arrival they located the victim 77 year-old Dale Neary sitting in the back yard of his residence with multiple stab wounds to his upper body. Neary was transported to a local hospital where he received treatment for his injuries and he remains hospitalized in serious condition although he is expected to recover.

Pinellas Park Police Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation. During the investigation it was determined that Neary was stabbed by his female roommate, 46 year-old Samantha Clark. At the time of police arrival at the residence it was learned that Clark had fled the residence leaving behind the knife that was used to stab Neary.

A short time later Clark was located several blocks from the residence where
the stabbing had taken place. Clark was taken into custody without further
incident and at the time she appeared to be possibly under the influence of
illegal narcotics. Clark was also transported to a local hospital where she
was admitted for observation during which time she was placed under arrest for
attempted murder and is currently being guarded by Pinellas County Jail
Deputies until her release from the hospital.

During the investigation it was learned that Clark had been arguing with Neary over $60.00 related to Clark’s federal stimulus money. Clark became enraged during the argument and attacked Neary using a common steak knife during which time Neary received a few stab wounds to his upper body. During the attack Neary attempted to defend himself by striking Clark with an aluminum piece of pipe. Clark continued to attack Neary with the knife stabbing him several more times before fleeing the residence.
