Crews from Clearwater Fire & Rescue along with officers from the Clearwater Police Department responded to reports of a person shot in the area of Palmetto Avenue and Vine Street. The incident occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021.
Officers located at adult male near the intersection with a gunshot wound. Paramedics treated the injured man at the scene and began to transport him to a local trauma center. Due to his deteriating medical condition, the ambulance was diverted to Largo Medical Center Hospital. According to the Clearwater Police Department, the victim died at the hospital.
The victim has been identified as 22 year-old Alex Walker. Detectives began searching for 20 year-old Amani Jackson, the suspect in the case that originated in the 900 block of Vine Avenue.
On Sunday, November 28th, police announced that Amani Jackson has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
