At approximately 8:08 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the parking lot near 2901 Tyrone Blvd N
Shortly after 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, a couple parked in front of the Crafty Crab, 2901 Tyrone Blvd. North, and the husband waited in the car while the wife went inside to pick up food.
While he was waiting, a masked man entered the car and attempted a carjacking.
The victim pulled out his own gun and fired at the suspect. The suspect fled the scene and the victim called 911 and waited for police to arrive.
The suspect, 18-year-old Simon White was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.
Once he is released from the hospital, White will face charges including attempted carjacking and occupied vehicle trespassing.
