PSTA Bus Driver Remains in Critical Condition Following a Crash Involving Nine Vehicles

A PSTA bus driver, 56 year-old John Klimaszewski of St. Petersburg was traveling westbound on Nebraska Avenue in the right turn lane approaching US-19 at approximately 11:17 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018.

Klimaszewki suffered a medical emergency and lost control of the bus, traveled forward and collided with a 2016 Toyota Camry stopped in traffic.  A total of 8 other vehicles were struck by the time the bus was stopped.

No other serious injures were reported in the crash.

As of 6 p.m., the bus driver remains in critical condition following on-scene medical assistance from a Good Samaritan and Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Deputy McTaggart and Deputy Carey.

The crash closed the southbound lanes of US-19 until 2:00 PM.


It has been almost 13 years since the inception of IONTB.
