St. Petersburg Car and Baby Thief Arrested

Police arrested the man who stole a car with a baby inside, earlier this week. Police caught 19 year-old Rashad Webb driving another stolen car.

Officers from the Violent Crimes Task Force spotted the stolen rented Toyota Corolla just before 2 a.m., but when they tried to stop him, he drove off at a high rate of speed.

Officers were later able to deploy stop sticks and Webb ultimately stopped the vehicle in the 2200 block of 15th Avenue South and surrendered.

Webb was wanted for stealing a car with a baby inside on Monday from the Gateway on 4th Apartments. He said when he realized the baby was in the car, he dropped him off in the parking lot where the child was found.

Webb was arrested and charged with: Child Abuse, Occupied Vehicle Burglary, and Auto Theft.  The bond on the warrant is $90,000.

Webb was also charged with Auto Theft, Fleeing and Eluding, and No Valid Driver’s License from the incident that occurred this morning.

Webb has been arrested 27 times in Pinellas County, since he was 10 years old.
