St. Petersburg Police Investigating the Stabbing Death of a 22 Year-Old Man

Additional information has been obtained that helps to explain the charge of 1st degree murder.

According to an arrest affidavit, Peruchi made a phone call prior to the murder of 22 year-old Trevor Scott.

During this phone call, he called an acquantance prior to the incident saying he, “needed a gun to kill someone.” Shortly after the incident, he called back stating he, “just stabbed a man in the eye and the neck and then hit him with the car.”

He also admitted to accidently cutting his own leg and that he was bleeding. These calls were also on speakerphone and reportedly overheard by others.

The report indicates that Scott was stabbed at least three times with a large kitchen knife in the eye, neck, and abdomen. Peruchi then drove his vehicle at Scott striking him with the front right passenger side of his car.

Officers report that Peruchi admitted to taking the knife from his home prior to meeting Scott.  After being read his Miranda rights, he also admitted to bringing water, wipes, and isopropyl alcohol to the scene, “in case I needed to get away” or in case he got cut.

He admitted to stabbing Scott in the abdomen and side of the neck.

No information was obtained that provided a motive for this murder.

He remains in custody at the Pinellas County Jail.

Original Posting

Officers were called to the 4400 block of 10th Avenue North for an injured man shortly before 7 PM on Monday, February 27, 2017.

Crews from St. Petersburg Fire Rescue arrived on scene and immediately transported the victim to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

The adult male suffered extensive upper body trauma and was pronounced dead at the hospital according to Yolanda Fernandez of SPPD.

Here is what is known at this time.

At approximately 7 p.m., 23 year-old Thomas Peruchi drove to the home of 22 year-old Trevor Scott, at 939 1/2 45th Street North. According to police, the two men knew each other and Scott got into Peruchi’s car.

They had a dispute while seated in the car and Peruchi stabbed Scott. Scott was able to exit the car and Peruchi left the scene.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue transported Scott to Bayfront Health, where he was later pronounced dead.

Meantime, police received a medical call at 4643 5th Avenue South. Thomas Peruchi had lacerations to his leg. Through their investigation, officers were able to link the two incidents together. Peruchi was taken to Bayfront Health for treatment and will later be transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

According to Pinellas County records Peruchi is facing First Degree Murder charges.
