Traffic investigators from the St. Petersburg Police Department are working a vehicle traffic crash involving a trolley at Central Avenue and 16th Street.
The incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.
A PSTA trolley and a Chrysler Pacifica collided at the intersection. The driver of the Chrysler Pacifica, a female in her 70s, was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg as a trauma alert. Police say she suffered life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of the Chrysler Pacifica was traveling southbound on 16th Street North and drove through a red traffic signal at Central Avenue.
The Trolley was headed westbound on Central Avenue with a green light and struck the left side of the Pacifica.
The intersection remained closed during the investigation.
Multiple others involved in the crash were evaluated at the scene.
