St. Petersburg police investigating fatality crash

Investigators from the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to the scene of a fatality crash. The crash occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 at the intersection of 38th Avenue North and MLK Jr. Street.

According to investigators, a white Toyota Tacoma, was northbound in the curb lane of Dr Martin Luther King Street North, approaching the intersection with 38th Avenue North.

A red Chevrolet Equinox, was also northbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Street North in the median lane. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Equinox lost control and struck the Toyota, causing his vehicle to roll.

The driver of Equinox was pronounced dead on the scene by Fire Rescue. No one else was injured.

The investigation is still ongoing.
