Driver arrested in DUI fatality crash on 5th Avenue N in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash at 5th Avenue and 49th Street North. The crash occurred at approximately 9:51 a.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2021.

Investigators say a red Ford Mustang driven by 25 year-old Dominic Dangelo of Largo and with passenger, 35 year-old Edward Feist of Seminole was traveling southbound on 49th Street North, approaching the intersection of 5th Avenue North.

A black Ford Excursion driven by a 29 year-old St. Petersburg resident and with a child passenger, was northbound on 49th Street North, approaching the intersection of 5th Avenue North. Dangelo attempted to make a left turn onto 5th Avenue North and into the path of the Excursion, causing the crash.

The passenger, Feist, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were transported with minor injuries.

Dangelo was arrested for DUI, DUI Manslaughter, and driving with a suspended/revoked license.

At this time, the investigation is still ongoing. The roadway was closed during the investigation for several hours and was re-opened.
