St. Petersburg Police Investigating Suspicious Death

Detectives assigned to the Major Crimes Division of the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to the scene of a suspicious death at 7726 34th Avenue North.

Fire Rescue crews and police were called to the address at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017.

According to investigators, 30 year-old Alicia Chamberlain called to report that she awakened to find her boyfriend, 31 year-old James Allen deceased on the back porch.

Chamberlain also reported that she had severe injuries to her body, but did not know who injured her.

When officers arrived, they entered the locked and fenced rear yard. They located Chamberlain, as well as the deceased, James Allen.

Chamberlain was subsequently transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Hospital with critical but non-life-threatening injuries.

Chamberlain has only been able to provide investigators a limited statement due to her medical condition.

Major Crimes Unit detectives were called to the scene and had to obtain a search warrant for the home to continue their investigation.

Detectives do not believe this was a random act and the public is not in danger.

  1. I love you big cousin/big brother James Allen…. I don’t know how to feel, but you will get justice. This explains the horrific, taunting, dreams I’ve been having the past few nights. Your death isn’t suspicious baby, I wish you would’ve told me how you felt so you could’ve been safe.. I heard from my mother this morning that you mentioned to her that you had a feeling those people were going to kill you. This isn’t the way I wanted find out that my big brother is dead. You, Alicia, and your dad (my uncle) just helped me move into my new home. I shouldn’t have to wear your face on a shirt now to show love. If I have another boy in the future I will name him after you.
