St. Petersburg Police say investigation continues after man shot dead in home invasion Wednesday evening

Police received a call of a person shot at 458 4th Av S. at about 10 p.m. on Wedesday, May 27, 2020.

The victim was visiting friends at 458 4th Ave. South when a home invasion occurred, and he was shot and fatally wounded.

The victim has been identified as St. Petersburg resident, 22 year-old Owen Melin.

Detective do not believe this was a random act.

The investigation into the home invasion and shooting is ongoing, and investigators are asking anyone with information to call their non emergency line at 727-893-7780 or send an anonymous message by texting “SPPD” and the tip to TIP-411.
