Staff Member With Gun at Frontier Elementary

Shortly after 7 AM on January 7, 2016, a report was received that a staff member at Frontier Elementary School was in possession of a gun on campus.  The school is located at 6995 Hopedale Lane in Clearwater. Largo Police along with Pinellas County Schools Police Department responded to the school.

According to Lisa Wolf, District Public Information Officer for Pinellas County Schools, the gun was discovered prior to the students arrival on campus and no interruptions were experienced. Classes began on time at 8:30AM.

The gun was recovered by authorities and the armed non-educational staff member was treated for a non disclosed medical issue by Largo Fire Rescue and Sunstar Paramedics.

Parents and families have been notified of the incident and it remains under investigation.
