An Orlando man faces multiple criminal charges after an overnight strong-arm robbery that ended with his arrest.
The robbery took place at the Sunoco Gas Station located at 3130 Gulf to Bay Boulevard. At approximately 2:09 a.m., a masked suspect entered the business, committed an armed robbery and then left on foot.
Concealing his face with a shirt, 31 year-old Ivenson Jean Fils grabbed the female clerk on duty and threatened to punch her if she did not give him money.
After fleeing the business with cash, he was tracked by Clearwater Police officers and a K-9. As officers were trying to take him into custody, he grabbed the collar of K-9 Axe and twisted it, choking the dog. He also tried to bite and kick officers.
The suspect said he needed the money to buy a Greyhound bus ticket to get back to Orlando.
He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail and charged with strong-arm robbery, battery on a police dog and resisting arrest with violence.
