Suspect chasing ambulance transporting wife in St. Petersburg shooting charged with 1st-degree murder

Devin Michael Hansen, age 28, of 6422 29th Avenue North, has been arrested and charged with 1st-degree murder.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., St. Petersburg Police officers were called to a shooting at a house at 6466 29th Ave. N.

Based on preliminary information, a woman and a man were visiting relatives at the house on 29th Ave. N. During an argument, Hansen shot his wife, 35-year-old Yasmin Grijalva, at the home.

When emergency crews arrived, Hansen left the scene in a black Cadillac CTS.

An officer rode in the ambulance as Grijalva was transported to the trauma center at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital.

During the transport, the black Cadillac started chasing the ambulance on the interstate.

Officers nearby tried to stop the Cadillac, but Hansen fled south, and a pursuit was authorized.

After officers deployed tire deflation devices, the car crashed into some large landscaping rocks in the 1400 block of 54th Avenue South.

Hansen was taken into custody and booked into the Pinellas Jail on charges of 1st-degree murder, fleeing and eluding, and domestic battery.

Grijalva was pronounced dead at the hospital. The next of kin has been notified.
