On Sunday, August 27, 2023, officers from the Largo Police Department responded to a call for service from a business owner where a former student at an adult daycare facility located on Ulmerton Rd., Largo, has been communicating written threats to conduct a mass shooting.
In addition to the threats to the daycare, the suspect, 33-year-old Michael Dixon, who resides part-time in Pasco County, also threatened his parents about killing them and his child’s mother.
During the investigation, probable cause was developed for the arrest of Michael Dixon for the felony charge of Threatening Communications or Threats of Mass Shooting.
In the early hours of Monday, August 28, 2023, Dixon was located by the Pinellas Park Police Department in his stationary vehicle at 8901 US 19 North. Efforts to coax him out of the vehicle proved unsuccessful, prompting the Pinellas Park Police Department to activate their SWAT team. Subsequently, they sought assistance from the Largo Police Department. Despite attempts by law enforcement, Dixon remained within his vehicle, refusing to cooperate.
At approximately 8 A.M. on Monday, August 28, 2023, the subject peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing.
