Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheirff’s Office responded to a private residence located at 10954 Starkey Road in Seminole for a domestic disturbance. The call was at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.
Police say that 42-year-old Joshua Wieder made threats of violence against a family member.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was called to assist after Wieder barricaded himself inside his residence and refused to exit.
As deputies were attempting to make contact with Wieder, he shot toward deputies who were inside an armored vehicle located outside of his residence.
Deputies assigned to the Negotiator Response. The team made contact with Wieder who surrendered peacefully and uninjured after a nearly six hour stand-off.
Detectives continue to investigate the incident and criminal charges against Wieder are pending.
