Thief attempts to rip open ATM at Chase Bank in St. Petersburg with stolen truck

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to a report of a commercial burglary at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021. The incident occurred at the Chase Bank located at 1280 66th Street N.

Police say that someone used a stolen pick-up truck in an attempt to pull apart an ATM. The truck, stolen earlier that morning, ended up pulling the ATM off the concrete slab before crashing into a tree on the property.

The thieves were unsuccessful in opening the safe and didn’t get any money. The suspects fled the scene are their identities are unknown at this time. The investigation continues.
