Three-Alarm Structure Fire at St. Petersburg Catholic High School

ST. PETERSBURG — More than 80 first responders were called to St. Petersburg Catholic High School Tuesday afternoon after a structure fire escalated to three alarms.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue crews responded to the school at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The incident was upgraded to a three-alarm fire, prompting a large multi-agency response involving more than 80 first responders.

Firefighters conducted an interior attack on the fire while additional crews operated from the roof in an effort to contain the blaze and limit damage to the structure.

No injuries were reported.

Fire crews are expected to remain at the school throughout the night to monitor the building and ensure there is no additional fire activity or further damage.

The official cause of the fire remains under investigation but appeared to be related to a lightning strike.
