Traffic Accident in Largo Results in One Fatality and One Medevaced

Crews from Largo Fire Rescue responded this evening about 5pm to a traffic crash in Largo. The crash occurred at the intersection of 66th Street and 142nd Avenue. A Ford F250 pickup truck collided with the passenger side of a Mazda sedan.
Arriving crews described the vehicle damage to be heavy and additional units were dispatched to assist. It was determined that the female passenger of the sedan experienced non survivable injuries as a result of the collision. Crews worked to free the driver by using saws and hydraulic tools to assist in extricating him from the vehicle.
Bayflite was dispatched to the scene in order to transport the driver to a local trauma center for further medical care.
The driver of the Ford truck was being evaluated by medical crews.
Sunstar Paramedics, St. Pete Fire Rescue, Bayflite, and Largo Police Department assisted with the incident.
Largo Police Department will continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
