Troopers investigate a crash that killed a man using a mobility scooter to cross Park Street

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are investigating a crash that killed one person. The crash occurred in the northbound lane in the 4300 block of Park Street shortly before 7 p.m. on Monday, January 18 2021.

A 57 year-old male driver from St. Petersburg was traveling northbound on Park Street in a Ford Mustang. At the same time, a 68 year-old male from St. Petersburg was operating a mobility scooter across Park Street and entered the path of the Mustang near CR-16.

The man struck by the vehicle suffered critical injuries and was treated by paramedics that were dispatched to the scene. He was transported to St. Petersburg General Hospital where he died from this injuries.

Neither the driver of the Mustang nor his passenger appeared to have any physical injuries as a result of the crash.

The northbound lanes of Park Street were closed for many hours while FHP investigated the crash.
