Troopers investigate pedestrian death on 66th Street in Lealman crash

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, on 66th Street near 56th Avenue N

A 57-year-old male driver was traveling southbound on 66th Street North, north of 56th Avenue North in a 2019 Ford van.

Troopers say the 79-year-old pedestrian walked westbound across the roadway and entered the path of and was struck by the van.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

The roadway reopened at approximately 10:15 a.m.
